Introducing Westview United

June 28, 2023 - We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the history of our beloved school community. With great excitement, we proudly introduce new branding for Westview School, symbolizing a fresh chapter in our educational journey.
The rebranding process has been the result of extensive engagement with our stakeholders and dedicated staff. We are grateful for the invaluable input and enthusiasm they have brought to this transformation. As we prepare to move into a state-of-the-art facility in the fall, we felt it was the perfect time to embrace a new identity that reflects our collective spirit.
About Westview
The name ‘Westview’ represents our commitment to embracing the future while honoring our local heritage. It speaks to our vision of fostering a forward-looking, inclusive environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential. This name was chosen with great care, ensuring it resonated with our entire school community.
At the March 7, 2023 Regular Board Meeting, PSD’s Board of Trustees established a School Naming Committee to determine appropriate engagement and collaborate with stakeholders in order to provide a recommendation to the Board of Trustees whether to maintain the current name or to assign a new name to the Stony Plain Central Replacement School.
Administration consulted stakeholders, through a number of surveys to parents, staff and community, and gathered feedback to provide to the School Naming Committee. Administration also gathered the historical information on the area, including street and community names, reviews of the educational programming intentions for the replacement school, and several other factors. After careful consideration of all the information and feedback provided, the Committee has recommended that the Board of Trustees assign the name Westview School to the replacement school.
Furthermore, as a tribute to our proud past, we are paying homage to the legacy of the Stony Plain Central Lions through the incorporation of a roaring lion's head in our new school logo. This powerful symbol reminds us of the strength, courage, and resilience that our students and staff embody. It will serve as a constant reminder of our heritage as we embark on this exciting new phase as Westview United.

With the relocation to our cutting-edge facility, we are thrilled to announce that our sports teams will now be known as Westview United. This name reflects the unity, camaraderie, and teamwork that define our athletics program. It embodies the unwavering spirit of collaboration and inclusivity that extends beyond the playing field and permeates our entire school community.
As we prepare for this monumental transition, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the parents, guardians, and community members who have supported us over the years. Your unwavering dedication to our students' education has been instrumental in shaping the success of our school.
Our new logo and colours capture the essence of Westview United—fierce, united, and forward-thinking. We trust that it encapsulates the spirit of our remarkable school community.
